Going green in the gym - Happy Earth Day!

It may not be common to talk about sustainability or being green at the gym but we’re here to start the conversation. Below is a list of four ways you can be a little more environmentally friendly in your fitness life.

1) Bring your water bottle - many of our members do have their own water bottle and we have a handful of bottle fillers around the club. If you don’t have your own, purchase a 212 branded bottle from our retail area today!

2) Thrift your workout clothes - buying the latest, trendy clothes is common practice but we challenge you to thrift a few tops, shorts or event shoes! In our area we have two Goodwills, Other Mothers and numerous garage sales that can provide you with quality, gently used workout gear without the price tag or environmental impact.

You can also shop online for fitness clothes on sites like ThreadUp, REI and more!

3) Take your workout outdoors - 212 has a huge grassy area to the south of the building that members are welcome to use - in a respectful, bring the equipment back in, play it cool kind of way ;) - Some of our group ex classes and LIT Team Training have gone out there as well for a sunny sweat or grassy meditation. The next time you’re in the club, check it out. Use the TRX straps or flip a tire. Then head in for a cooling shower or pool time.

4) Walk, Bike or Bus it to the gym - the trail system inside Stevens Point has paths that lead to 212 such as the branch of the Green Circle that veers off Hoover Ave, ducks under hwy 39 and pops you out by Skyward. There are sidewalks leading to the club and we are on the yellow bus line. Check out the bus schedule here.

Taking your workout outside or walking to the club can also serve as a time to pick up trash, another great Earth Day initiative.

We hope you have a wonderful Earth Day!
